  • The lioness darted towards the wildebeest crossing the Mara River. The poor wildebeest herd ran, churning up a lot of dust in the process. Somehow the lioness missed her target and came back empty handed. I remember that soon after the shot was taken, there was a tremendous cloud of thick dust. All I could see was dust, dust, and dust everywhere! Maybe the lioness for her own safety, gave up on the hunt.

  • An African Fish Eagle was happily feeding on catfish caught in a pool in the dry Mara River, Masai Mara, Kenya.. Suddenly two other Fish Eagles dropped from the sky heading straight for the catfish.<br />
I saw, with my mouth open, the Eagle with the catfish spreading its wings and the two other eagles fighting each other mid air. African Fish Eagles do not like to share the food, so it was a fight for supremacy. What a spectacle!

  • Being a mother isn’t easy, but love for their kids makes things possible. This lioness has just ambushed and killed a wildebeest in Masai Mara, Kenya. After scouting the area, she started roaring saying it was safe for her cubs to come out from their hiding to eat. Even though she is on the top of the food chain, her cubs are still vulnerable.

  • A Male Black Headed Weaver, hanging upside down is fluttering his wings with shrill cries, to impress and attract females to his elaborate nest. The building of the nest on the acacia tree in Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya is completed and now he wants to make it into a family home. I was stunned by the early morning sunlight hitting the spread wings.

  • At the Ol Pejeta Chimpanzee Sanctuary, Kenya, a 4 month old chimpanzee baby clung tightly to its mother. After many days it finally dared to show its face to me. Curious but scared, this baby's raw emotion made me question human's interference with nature. A baby born in captivity, never knowing what it is to be free; trusting its fate in the hands of the humans. The baby’s behavior drew me closer to it and it’s mother- the large eyes were so captivating. The hands clinging to the mother's fur creating partings brought out the texture of her black fur.

  • Strength was in numbers. The migrating wildebeest walked down the road in the direction of Mara River in the Masai Mara National Reserve. Being tired and thirsty on this hot and dry day, they were probably thinking of the greeen and sweet grass on the other side of the river.

  • The spotted hyena mother had left her puppies playing near the den as she went to look for food for the hungry ones in the Laikipia savanna, Kenya. One inquisitive pup walked walked gingerly towards the camera. Even with their quiet demeanor and the puppy eyes, the pups are still very dangerous. The others watch and learn as this courageous one explores.
